Unlike Sedaris’s previous books this is not full of autobiographic essays, instead it is a book of animal stories bordering on fables. They are pure Sedaris, full of the absurd with cynical cutting humor. The brief sketches are often grotesque, but then again, animals do eat other animals to survive so he’s only telling it like it is.
