This is such a great story! To quote another reviewer, "This is a gripping book about the single-minded pursuit of justice in the 1870s, written in the amazing voice of a deadpan, plain-speaking prose of a woman looking back at the events some 30-40 years later."

This is one of those rare cases where you can read the book and see whole sentences - whole paragraphs even - that are word for word identical to those in the 2011 movie. I'd say about 60% othe story is identical too (not bad since some movies only tend to use the title from a popular book). I know this is sounding more like a review of the movie than the book, but if like me you saw the 2011 movie and are now thinking of reading the book, this is encouragement to read the book.

To me, this is the perfect book: memorable characters, a compelling historical setting, action, adventure, and straight-faced humor.
