During the days of World War 2, there were the Allied powers: Great Britain, USA, and then later on, Russia; and the Axis Powers: Germany, Italy and Japan. But Germany had its own plans, and that didn't involve its fellow Axis powers; it's main goal was to take the world for its own. This book is about a young teenager, barely 14, who is plucked from his home in Venice, Italy, believing that he was a fellow Facist, raised in a family of Facists to go to a work camp and treated like a prisoner. This book tells of his strives, stories of death and mourning and survival. This is very extraordinary; just think throughout the book that he is just 13 years old, yet you'd be surprised if you find yourself thinking him 16 or 17!

this is my favorite book and i have read it 10 times and i still never get sick of it. it is a great book about survival in the horrible war between two powerful countries and forces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
