Summary: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go totally green? Priscilla Short wondered the same thing?-and for a year, lived entirely off the grid; a year living in a strawbale house in Taos, with no electricity, a septic tank, a tankless water heater, and a wood burning stove. That year of living simply and the realization that North America currently accounts for 4.6% of world's population and 33% ofglobal consumption has made her a balanced proponent of helping people to reduce their ecological footprint. Here she focuses on simple ways that anyone can conserve our 7 most important resources: Transportation - instead of hybrid cars, drive less, use zip cars and bike shares Heat - turn it off for a weekend and put on a sweater Power and Light - Instead of buying smart bulbs, turn off the lights or install solar Food - buy less packaged food Garbage - encourage your town to start a composting service Stuff - stop shopping as a hobby This is a practical and balanced approach to the ecological crisis that encourages each of us to take practical step to protect the earth.
