How to win a fight : a guide to avoiding and surviving violence
Kane, Lawrence A.
Adult Nonfiction GV1111 .K258 2011

Comments  Summary  Contents  Author Notes

Kane and Wilder's first lesson is that violence should be avoided at all costs, so they offer advice on what to do before violence occurs, such as scanning the environment for dangerous situations and using verbal de-escalation to defuse tense situations. But if a fight is unavoidable, the authors offer clear guidance for being the victor, including physical techniques to disarm your attacker and major mistakes to avoid while in the midst of a brawl. Finally, they outline the steps you should take after a violent altercation, including first aid, legal issues, managing witnesses, handling a police interview, and finding a good attorney. Thirty-year veterans of martial arts, Lawrence Kane and Kris Wilder teach goju ryu karate in Seattle. Kane supervises security at a Pacific-10 conference stadium and holds a black belt in goju ryu. Wilder is a godan in goju ryu and also holds black belts in judo and tae kwon do.
