What other readers are saying about this title:
Mrs. Parker said:
This is a terrific book that explains a time in history that might seem hard to understand now. The main character, Glory, is upset because the leaders in the town where she lives would rather close the community pool than allow black folks in. This book is set in the mid 1960’s and the US was trying really hard to make things fair for everyone, no matter what color your skin was. Not everyone believed this was a good thing to do. Glory decided to stand up for what she believed was right. It wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but doing the right thing isn’t always the easy thing. This book will surely get you thinking. It is a great summertime read.
