The Expats is a book which pace keeps accelerating on you and that makes it hard to put down. The book alternates between events taking place right now and events that started two years ago when Kate and Dexter started the process of moving to Luxembourg for Dexter's job. Kate had to quit her CIA job to follow her husband abroad and without spoiling too much of the story I will say that not much is what it seems to be and that Kate's skills acquired in her previous job come in handy when trying to deal with a situation that involves computer security, tax heavens, FBI agents, expat communities, lies and layers upon layers of duplicity. All in all a fun read with an engaging female protagonist struggling to discover who her husband really is and working very hard to keep her family safe and together.

Kate is a wife and mom who just happens to be a former CIA agent. When the family moves to Luxembourg for a great job opportunity and chance to make lot of money she finds she’s not happy as a full-time mom. Good book all the way around with a plot with tons of twists and turns and great characters. Only thing I find funny is that although husband Dexter is acting veeerrry suspicious Kate clings to her resolve not to investigate him. Show me a wife who would not use all the tools at her disposal to find out what her husband is up to! Impossible.
