Penelope Casas is the author of three previous books on the foods and wines of Spain: iDelicioso! The Regional Cooking of Spain; Tapas: The Little Dishes of Spain; The Foods and Wines of Spain; and a travel guide, Discovering Spain: An Uncommon Guide. Ms. Casas is an adjunct professor at New York University, where she teaches courses on Spain. She is a frequent contributor to such leading publications as Food and Wine, Gourmet, Saveur, and The New York Times. For her efforts to promote Spanish food and culture, she has been awarded the Spanish National Prize of Gastronomy and the Medal of Touristic Merit, and by authority of the King of Spain, she was named Dame of the Order of Civil Merit. After graduating from college, Ms. Casas studied at the University of Madrid, where she met her husband and started a thirty-year love affair with Spanish food, wine, and culture. She lives in New York City.
