Book one of the Series of Unfortunate Events. I remember reading this as a child when this first came out, and loving it. At age eight, it was something so different and like nothing I had ever read before. Being much older and wiser now, I still think that it is one of the most different series I have ever read. Everything about it is so creative, from the unique characters to the plots marred with strange twists and turns. Everyone should read this series at one point in their life, just to say they did-I’ve read it twice.

this book was good. It was not one of my favorites because I felt like it moved kinda slow. I think the books are kinda predictable. But still very interesting.

I just started reading these books and they have surprised me how good they are. For such a short book lots of exciting things happen. Cant wait to read the next one! recommend it it to anyone who likes mystery.

This is just 1 of the 12 wonderful books of A Series of Unfortunate Events. The mysteries all start when The Baudelaire Children's parents die in a devastating fire. Having no true family members to live with, they go to their great great uncle's cousin, twise removed, Count Olaf. But there's something they don't like about him and something fishey going on. Count Olaf doesn't seem to be a nice man. What's going on? Read the book and you'll find out!

I thought that this book was really exciting and full of suspence. I kept thinking, "okay, you can tell me what happens," and then it would finally tell you. You feel scared for the characters when you read a book, and that's just what I did.

This is the most popular book in school ever since Harry Potter had a little intermission. At first I vowed that I wouldn't read it, because all of those terrible things happen, and I like happy books, but then I thought: heck, I might as well read it. This book is about an inventive teenage beauty named Violet, her intelligent pre-teen brother named Klaus, and their ever-biting infant sister, Sunny. When their rich parents parish in a fire that destroys the whole Baudelaire estate, a family friend sends them to live with their mysterious relation, Count Olaf. Count Olaf is an evil and greedy man, and he does everything- even abusing the orphans- to get to the Baudelaire fortune. I may not be Mr. Snicket's #1 fan, but I recommend this book to anyone who wants to be "transported to another world" within this book. [Series: A Series of Unfortunate Events #1]

I had different feelings at different times. At some points I was sad. Some points I was happy. I thought the book was really good. It told a story about three kids who's parents die all of a sudden and they have to move to a relative they have never even heard of before. His name is Count Olaf. But he is planning a wicked plan to get to the money the children's parents left for them. This is a series so I think after you read this you should read this book, read the rest. The childrens misery isn't over. I sure am going to read the series!

The person who is going to read this book might want put it down but I didn't put this book down. It was a interesting story because Violet and Klaus knew that Count Olaf was trying to get his hands on the Baudelaire fortune. He tryed to get Violet to marry him but she was smart enough to not marry him and saved her sister plus the Baudelaire Fortune. People are probally Going to like this book because I did. The Bad Beginning was a can't put down book. THe authors wackiness and exciting writing made this an awesome book about 3 children(Violet, Klaus and Sunny) who just figured out there parents died in a fire. There parents had left them a big fortune, but they could only inherite it until Violet became the proper age. So they got sent out to live with a very distant relitive that they had never met, but when they first stepped in the door chills ran down there backs. The man named Count Olaf was evil, smart and miserable he would hit them and hurt them in any way to make there lives miserable. Then Count Olaf has a plan to get the family fortune from them and after if he got the money he would kill all of them. Will they send him to jail. Will he get the family fortune? This book starts off when Mr.Poe brings the Baudilares to uncle Monty.But then of course count Olaf disguises himself as a friend of Uncle Monty.After that Stephano,Uncle monties friend kills uncle Monty and tries to steeel the Baudilare fortune once again.I think this book was good because it persuaded you to read on.

This is a pretty good book. The miserable life of the Baudelaire orphans continues when they are sent to live with their Uncle Monty. Their life with Uncle Monty starts out pleasant but then the person who they least wanted to see again renters their life with another plot to steal their fortune. I liked this book. I think the way the author writes is absolutely amazing. It makes you want to read the book more and more. You never want to stop until the book is over then you want to get your hands on every other book he writes. Especially when he makes Count Olaf always get away in the end and never gets arrested or dies. Lemony Snicket uses great detail on every character and gave every person and thing their own special characteristics. Like, Sunny loves to bite things and Klaus has read more books than most people read in an average lifetime. I can visualize everything he talks about. He goes into detail with each and every scene. This is the second book in [A Series of Unfortunate Events]. This book is an easy read but very enjoyable. Again Count Olaf plans to take the Baudelaire fortune. Will a deadly serpent save their lives? You have to read it to find out.

I enjoyed thes book very much. It is about three kids who have to live with an obscure relitive because their parents died. The children are left with a huge forture to inherit. The relitive is more interested in the money than the kids and plans to get the money away from them. This book is an easy read, but still an interesting one. I thought this book was great!I fell sorry for the three Baudelaires, because Count Olaf Murding thier uncle.I wish the three Baudelaires mother and father never died in the fire. If you don't like disasterous stories that don't have any happines in any part of the story drop this book and run, run, run because this book has no happeness in it what so ever. This is the eighth series in the series of unfortunate events. In this book the three children, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are accused of a murder they didn?t even do, so they have to live by their own without any body to take care of them because everybody thinks they are murders, when the actual murder is Count Olaf. The children try to solve the mystery of V.F.D, which are initials for some kind of a secret word, so while they are trying to solve it, they are faced with another mystery, a mystery that might stop all of the children?s unfortunate events.
