She clearly must not mean the main character, because we all know that the main character is a girl and girls only have one mouth that is generally not overly wet or toothy. Since the girl is the Keeper, that leaves only two options. A) 'The' B) 'Folk' It clearly isn't the 'folk' because 'folk' are creepy, indescribable ghostly creatures that sit in people's cellars and eat their food and will kill them unless there's a Folk Keeper to keep them back. Therefore the quote at the beginning of my overly long comment must refer to 'The' and that makes no sense at all.
