This book is part of the seiries the Earthsea Cycle. I thought that it was a little slower to start than the others that I had read, but the idea of the story was well done and the world of Earthsea is very well defined. Since it tells of the childhood and training of the wizard Sparrowhawk, this book is probably best understood if you have already read The Tombs of Atuan. Still, I liked it a lot.
