I absolutely LOVED this book. It was so different from Brian Jacques’ other books, and I think that was what made it so good. It is about a mute boy named Ben, and his dog Neb. They end up as castaways on a ship named the "Flying Dutchman".
It’s an amazing and exciting adventure!

Unfortunately, bookanaconda is wrong. In the beginning of the story, the crewmen name the mute boy Neb, short for Nebuchadnezzar and his black lab is named Den, short for Denmark. Through this adventurous tale that follows the pair through time, they change their names to Ben (Neb spelled backwards) and Ned (Den spelled backwards). I just wanted to make this correction so you have the right information!
Now, onto my opinion.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. I can’t tell you too much about the plot or it would be given away, but one thing is for sure. By the time you are at part 2 (part 1 for me was a bit slow) you will be hooked! (:
