What other readers are saying about this title:
It's the story of a young man, Paul, the son of a white plantation owner, and a black slave woman. the story is set right after the Civil War. White people resent Paul because he is part black, and black people resent Paul because he is part white. He struggles to find his place in society and he struggles to get some land of his own. a very well written, intruiging book that reveals a shameful period in American history that many history books tend to cover up.
