I didn’t find The Stone Monkey as suspenseful as The Coffin Dancer or The Bone Collector, but the story still had the unexpected twists Deaver works into his Lincoln Rhyme novels. The plot centers on a ruthless Chinese immigrant smuggler, his human cargo and his attempts to eliminate any remaining survivors. Deaver introduces a Chinese cop, whose deductive reasoning skills match Rhyme’s and who is also in pursuit of the smuggler. A good read; Deaver fans won’t be disappointed.
