While this is a great "must read" book, It’s strength is its core principal characters and their development. Unfortunately the series is about 8 books too long (FOURTEEN books to achieve closure.. and then only because the author died on book Eleven) The series gets overloaded with characters you just can’t bring yourself to care about and absorbed with a grandiose view of the "fate" of the world. I lost interest around book 5 and was only barely able to force myself through book 7. May pick this up again just to get a sense of closure.

First book in the Wheel of Time series. This is epic fantasy at its best. History, they say, moves in cycles like a great wheel. The Dragon, the most powerful male magic-user, is set to be reborn and the forces of evil are determined to destroy him before he can. The rest of the world is also against him, as the very power he gains eventually drives him crazy and could unmake the world. Jordan creates a mythology and world as rich as Middle Earth, although some of his creatures seem very similiar to what Tolkien created. (Orcs and Wraiths by a different name) The story is engaging and the characters are deep. You can really feel the tension as the story builds.

Dang. This series is good. lol check out DVader’s comment because its basically the same as mine except i’m still in book 4. I can’t wait to find out what happens. Seriously, check these books out. And don’t be scared by the massive size of them. You will be flipping pages so quickly that you will settle in and start reading and then look up and see that its been 5 hours and you’re halfway done.

This is the book that drew me into the world of fantasy fiction. It is a true classic of its genre and a terrific introduction to the nuts and bolts of epic fantasy.

This series is a must read. although the first book in the series (the eye of the world) starts off a bit slow, once you get about halfway through the second you CANNOT put them down. After i finished the series I went into some form of shock because i had read so much so quickly and was thinking about what might happen in book 12. the whole series is like one big book in my memory because i went strait from 1 book to the next. HIGHLY recomended. 5 out of 5 stars :)

It was pretty much like the Lord of the Rings, except with strong female characters which is pretty much the only area Lord of the Rings is lacking in. It was a really good book on the whole and I look forward to reading others in the series. [Series: Wheel of Time #1]

This book was incredible. It was kind of like Lord of the Rings, but a lot more page turning. It was amazing what this author could imagine and it just takes you to a whole other place. This book has every element in it that you would want. I would HIGHLY recommend reading this book. It is a real good fantasy read. [Series: Wheel of Time #1]

I think this is one of the best books, and series (Wheel of Time) for teens that love to read fantasy and adventure books. This book brings you into the story, no-matter who is narrating that chapter. Part 1, From the Two Rivers, gives you background to it and begins the great adventure of the story. Part 2 brings you farther into the story and adventure with more danger, new characters, and new landscapes.
