Having visited Lake of the Woods and been bewitched by its magic, this book cast a perspective on the origins and history of the native peoples that I would not have otherwise known. And being a bibliophile like Louise, I am totally captivated by the idea of an island filled with books and am wondering if it is possible for me to visit there too ! I will now look at Birchbark Books with a completely new eye; our island cabin retreat in the city full of what we love the most - books.
