In 1994, Liv Arnesen made international headlines by becoming the first woman to ski solo and unsupported to the South Pole, a 50-day expedition of 745 miles. She wrote a book about that solo expedition that was a bestseller in her native Norway. She lives outside of Oslo Ann Bancroft is the first woman in history to cross the ice to both the North and South poles. In 1995 she was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame. She lives outside of St. Paul, Minnesota Cheryl Dahle is a writer based in San Francisco. Her work has appeared in Fast Company and Working Mother, among other publications
