some people think this is great directing, and you can see and feel what they are trying to do, but it is one of the most stupid, depressing, films

"My Own Private Idaho" is a cult-American classic that  like anything cleverly multi-layered  should be surveyed and examined several times in order to fully appreciate how and why this film works as a brilliant piece of art, and entertainment." MOTIVATION FOR ME TO SEE: I have liked the director ever since seeing "To Die For" (1995), and after I recently saw his latest, "Milk", I decided to see what else he's done that I've missed.
