I haven’t read Turow since Presumed Innocent came out many years ago. I do not traditionally like war themed books, but something about the presentation of this book caught my eye. Thank goodness it did! This is the best book I’ve read in months. The characters are well drawn, the story plays out in a compelling manner, and the history is fascinating.
I think all types of audiences will enjoy this well crafted novel!

It’s impossible to read "Ordinary Heroes" without abandoning much of the rah-rah, war-glorifying attitude that has shaped our nation’s misty-watercolored-memories view of World War II. Indeed, many readers will likely emerge from the experience as pacifists.
