Reading this book, the first thing you will notice is the intensity and intactness of the characters. They come out real and vivid in your mind’s eye. You find humor, passion, rugged individualism (a true American trait), tenderness, and pathos. One central theme of the book is the idea that it is the things we love most that cause our demise. Great, great book!!!!
