This book gives a great perspective of what it’s like to be "different." The author was born and grew up in rural Indiana, but her parents were raised in Japan. Although she was an American as her classmates, she was the only Japanese-American. Her writing style is easy to read and it’s a great perspective. Also, her favorite Japanese recipes from her childhood appear at the end of every chapter. I really enjoyed this book!
