One of the best films of 2008. This documentary has footage of Petit’s aerial walks/dances/rests on a 7/8 inch wire he and friends illegally set up between New York City’s Twin Towers in 1974. He says Americans always ask him why he did it. His answer is "there is no why."

Absolutely a beautiful and awe-inspiring film; belongs in the top 20 of 2008. An exquisite and moving tribute to truly following one’s passion. Filmed in such a way, it’s entertaining, insightful, touching, scaring and educational all at the same time. Highly recommend.

4 of 5 stars. Not bad for a documentary with POV reenactments. What does the stunt symbolize? Perhaps by bringing the two monolithic towers together for one short kiss, he is a sort of cupid. Perhaps by breaking into privatized corporate space and appropriating it for public entertainment, he is a sort of graffiti artist. Perhaps now in this "Homeland Security" fear-industry age, he is a court jester -the first foreigner "terrorist" in tights to bring the WTCs’ towering symbolic power down a notch. Or perhaps it’s just that he can face death without falling, whereas most of us will fall without facing life.
