Finally got around to reading this one, after re-reading The Gunslinger three times over the years. I’m looking forward to continuing with the series. The "Detta Walker" sections got a bit trying to read, with all the cliched jive talk (which was sort of the point), but otherwise this was a pretty good book, though somewhat dated with its 1987 references. A good fantasy series should be more timeless.
