I loved this book. It was a memoir about Frank and his poverty pit of a life. Born in New York and raised in Ireland, he struggles to survive. At first I didn't like the style of writting, but after I got used to it, I fell in love. After reading this, I became more grateful and just thankful that my life is nothing like that. It isn't that sad, it's just kind of a wake up call to life in general. I think there was a movie based upon this story but I haven't seen it. I do reccomend this book for a mature audience just because there are a few scenes in there but they really are not that bad. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK! IT IS EXCELLENT!

A difficult book to read, especially for those of Irish descent. Parts are beautifully written and will stay with you long after you finish the book. But don't forget the tissues.

This has got to be the most depressing book I’ve ever read. I don’t want to see the movie.
