I really love how West turns a phrase and describes everyday emotions and events. Even though the setting was 1950’s the father’s anger at the politics of changes happening and his inability to either fight for what he thought was right or to find a way to move forward can be found all around us in modern times.

This is an enjoyable read, with plenty of circa 1950 nostalgia set in St. Paul. A good story, too, that keeps you turning the pages until the very end.
