With a foster child as inspiration and obvious love of the notion that flowers can change the course of lives, Diffenbaugh tells a page-turning story I loved. Victoria ages out of foster care and uses her one seeming talent to find work. But, a visit to the flower market introduces the enigmatic Grant. What sorrows both have had; but what kindness and patience Grant brings to this friendship. Read on. It’s a good one.

Best book I've read in years. Victoria relays her life, both past (growing up neglected in the foster care system) and present (struggling at 18 to become a functioning adult). She uses the language of flowers (the Victorian meaning of each)to try to communicate. Beautifully written; Victoria grabbed my heart.
