When Alice was in the fourth grade, she and her father made a pact to read aloud together for 100 days. However, once the 100 days were up, they made another promise to go on for 1000 days. They ended up reading at least 10 minutes per day together until Alice went to college. The strong father-daughter bond and the value she felt she gained from this long time reading together is recounted. This is a warm story that shows the benefits of reading to a child. Their booklist is included.
