This is much, much better in following Robert Parker’s footsteps than Michael Brandman’s Killing the Blues. In this book the dialogue is plausible, the plot makes sense and Ace Atkins did a great job emulating the late and great Robert Parker’s style. I will definitely keep an eye on more Spenser books by Atkins.

This is a better version of the late Robert Parker with sensible story connections. 7 of 10 stars

I didn’t read the Parker original, but I enjoyed this one. 7 of 10 for me.
