Shlain theorizes that literacy hyperdevelops the left brain, leading cultures to undervalue the right brain and to become more violent. He presents a lot of evidence to support his speculation, while admitting that correlation does not necessarily mean causality. He perceives a cultural shift as we now live in the world of images.
