This was the first story Agatha Christie wrote about the famous Belgian detective with the litte grey cells. Not surprising, then, that there is less of a twist (although there certainly is a twist) in solving this mystery. That (very minor) criticism aside--this is a well-written mystery story that has been faithfully translated to film. As is typical of this series, the scenery is splendid, architecture is amazing, the acting almost universally in the good-to-excellent category, with David Suchet (Poirot) and Hugh Fraiser (Hastings) an outstanding pair. Even if you aren’t crazy about mysteries, the film locations make it worth looking at.
