i thought that this book was fabulous! it was very sad, and had a great plot. it's about a girl named Kate who just moved to Hollow Hill, because her father died. she finds out that women have been disappearing from the land every so often. and then she meets a man named Marak, who tells her the story behind the missing women. and no one but her sister, emily, belives her.

The first book of the Hollow Kingdom Trilogy. I first read this book as a teen when it first came out. I always loved this book, but I was never very fond of the sequels. I would, however, recommend this book. It is so different from most stories, showing vulerability in humans hearts and how practicully every word that comes out of our mouthes are a lie. It is not only a fun, indearing story, but it also gives the reader a valuable lesson. I couldn’t put it down; the second time through!
