| This one almost ties with Wuthering Heights for me. In fact, sometimes I think it surpasses it, but then I read Wuthering Heights again and change my mind. Jane Eyre is a wonderfully written book. It follows the title character, an orphan disliked by almost everyone, as she tries to find someone who sees the real her and can still love her. |

| Sort of a story within a story. A teen girl with a serious disease goes to stay with her grandma while her family is on vacation. The girl had been tormenting her heartbroken family throughout her illness, because of bitterness, but Gran tells her a story. Gran's story is her own and takes place during WWII. |
