Author Talk: Dan Munson
Saturday, Oct. 4, 1 p.m.
Munson will discuss "Malice Toward None," a book that tells the dramatic story of the four Kochendorfer children who survived the Sioux Uprising of 1862. Homes were found for them in the Twin Cities, and they thrived. Their descendants now number over 1,000. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Crafty Minnesota: Needle Felting

For adults. Paint and draw with tiny bits of wool and a special needle. Create a pin or tiny ornament using the technique of needle felting. Materials provided.

Paint It Green: Rube Goldberg Marble Machine
Thursday, Oct. 16, 1–2:30 p.m.

K-grade 6. Design and make your own marble machine using a variety of tubes, papers, unusual scraps, tape, glue and wire. Then add a few marbles and watch the good times roll! Materials provided.

Paws to Read With an Animal
Sunday, Oct. 19, 1–2:30 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 16, 1–2:30 p.m.

For families. Volunteers will help put young readers at ease so they can cuddle up with a certified therapy animal and practice reading aloud. Most libraries host dogs and you can call ahead to see if other animals will be visiting. Time slots are 15 minutes.

This two-day, hands-on writing workshop is for all levels of writers. Day one: Explore what goes into writing believable, engaging characters. Day two: Discuss the building blocks of storytelling and practice putting them together in a way that has readers asking for more!

For families. Enjoy Halloween stories, poems and flannel boards. Participate in "The Little Old Lady Who was Not Afraid of Anything." Be sure to wear your Halloween costume. We will parade around the library to "The Monster Mash!" Costume parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Face painting will follow the program.
