A certified state health insurance counselor will assist with senior health insurance (enrollment steps, plan choices, low-income subsidy). Bring your list of prescriptions or your prescription bottles, Medicare, supplemental insurance, and/or Part D drug plan questions. Limit 2 or two couples per session.

Paws to Read With an Animal
Saturday, Oct. 25, 2:30–4:30 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 22, 2:30–4:30 p.m.

For families. Volunteers will help put young readers at ease so they can cuddle up with a certified therapy animal and practice reading aloud. Most libraries host dogs and you can call ahead to see if other animals will be visiting.

Great Decisions: Energy Independence

Energy independence, by taking the bargaining chip of oil dependence off the table, would be good for American foreign policy. In a government with fixed resources, should the U.S. encourage more traditional fuel production or invest in the young technology of renewable resources?

Global Folk: Chinese Pipa Music
Saturday, Nov. 1, 11:30a.m.–12:30 p.m.

All ages. Gao Hong, world-renowned Chinese musical prodigy and master of the pipa (a pear-shaped lute), will captivate you with music steeped in Chinese styles but familiar to western ears. 
This project is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

The armistice ended World War I at 11 a.m., Nov. 11, 1918 and was perceived as a great victory by the Allies, but not the Germans. This two-part class examines why this cruel and pointless war ended as it did, and how it sowed the seeds of an even more deadly conflict 20 years later. Presented by Hugh Tyndall.
