How do I check out a Pass?
Select the museum of your choice from the display at your local library. Bring the card to the service desk along with your library card. Your check-out receipt serves as your Pass.
To ensure fair distribution of the Museum Adventure Passes to our customers, passes are placed in kiosks at various times throughout the day. They are available on a first come, first served basis. To find out if a pass is available, please visit your local library and check the Museum Adventure Pass kiosk.
How many Passes may I check out?
You may check out one Pass at a time.
How long is the Pass valid?
The Pass is valid for 7 days from the time of check-out.
May I use the Pass more than once?
No. The museum will collect your Pass when you visit.
May I renew my Museum Adventure Pass?
Passes are not renewable.
May I reserve a Museum Adventure Pass?
No. Passes are available on a first-come first-served basis.
Do I need to return the Pass to the library?
No, you hand in your Pass in exchange for admission at the museum, so there's no need to return it to the library.
Are there restrictions on the Museum Adventure Pass?
In some cases, yes. The Pass covers admission to the museum, but not to special events/exhibits. Some participating organizations have a few select dates when the Pass cannot be used. And a couple of the museums are open seasonally. So please call the museum or visit its website for specifics.
Isn't admission already free to some of the museums?
Yes. The Como Park Zoo, Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Weisman Art Museum offer free general admission. But as participants in the Museum Adventure Pass program, these organizations offer additional benefits to library users attending on a Pass.
How do I get more information?
Metro area public libraries have brochures describing the participating organizations and the Museum Adventure Pass program guidelines in detail. You may also log on to www.melsa.org/museumadventurePass for more information and for links to the participating organizations.
