Summer brings a time for teachers, parents, families and students to shift gears. KidLinks Grades K - 6: Summer Reading Fun

Read to Win

Write a short book review, and automatically enter to win free books. Three winners are selected randomly each week for 10 weeks. see prize books

Book Blast

These fun (and easy questions) are about books and have a background theme having to do with animals in Minnesota. Three winners are selected randomly each week for ten weeks.

My Book List

NEW - adults and teens have loved this feature on hclib.org so we added it to KidLinks. Kids can create and share lists of their own favorite books.

Online Book Clubs

Two for girls and two for guys in Grades 4-6. Online book clubs meet Monday-Friday any time of day. Two sessions: June 22-26 and July 27-31. Register today. see info about f2f book clubs

Kids Tech Workshops

Explore computer animation using Scratch, a free software. Create characters that dance, move, make noise, change colors and more! For kids entering grades 5-6.

TeenLinks Grades 6 - 12: Summer Programs and Reading

Express Yourself @ Your Library!
This summer program theme inspired some great creative programs which will take place between June 15 and August 15, 2009.

First Pages: Fiction in a Flash Teens learn to write fiction with Loft mentors.
First Pages: Write Out Loud
Contests Teens can participate in essay, art, YouTube and other creative contests.
Express Yourself Teen Topic Teens can find local and online resources to explore their creative sides.

Summer Reading Fun
At last! Time for teens to read what they want, when they want.

If they write book reviews for the library, teens have a chance to win free books in Best Book Ever.
Teens can join their peers in Teen Book Clubs, including an Online Twilight Book Club this June.
Start teens reading the Nominees for the Teens Top Ten books, a voter's choice award. The vote for their favorites will take place at the end of August.
Explore Audiobooks for Teens and Award Winning Teen Audiobooks as you travel. You can even download audiobooks!
