|
KidLinks is Hennepin County Library's website to help kids achieve success in school. Go to KidLinks as a first-stop on the Internet for finding great books and reliable resources for homework projects.
On November 4 KidLinks will host a special Quick Poll "Kids Vote for President!" This online poll will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with students seeing instant voting results. |

Books & Reading
Check out the popular 'books & reading' section to get book ideas by genre, award winners, beginning readers, audio books, and series books.
How do you keep up with new books being published? Every two months KidLinks posts new books for children. Connect directly to the suburban or the Minneapolis catalogs from all book lists in order to request books.
Point your students to our new Lexile and Guided Reading Level information page to help them find Lexile scores for a large number of children's books.

Homework Help
Homework Help is organized by subjects. Within each subject you'll see databases on the left and selected websites on the right. Databases are paid for by the library and require a library card for access. Students can apply for a library card online.
Help for students doing projects about Native American nations and tribes is found under History & Social Studies. A good starting website is Native Americans: Facts for Kids.

On Thursday, December 11, 10:00 a.m. he'll be visiting the Minneapolis Central Library for a special presentation just for students and teachers. Please contact Christy if you'd like to reserve room for you and/or your group. Homework Hub was TTYL@HCL!
City of Minneapolis libraries merged with suburban Hennepin County libraries earlier this year and together have created a new in-person tutoring service called Homework Hub. Trained tutors will help with research, writing papers, and working on computers to help students make the grade! Students can play games such as chess and Scrabble and, at some locations, create their own computer games and compete in gaming competitions.
Free; no advance sign-up needed. For middle and high school students at Augsburg Park, Brookdale and Hopkins; K-12 at all other libraries. Available during the school year from Sept. 8 through Dec. 18, 2008 and Jan. 5 through May 30, 2009.
