KidLinks Grades K - 6
KidLinks logo Patrons of all ages can get help from library staff using IM. Ask questions about finding and using library resources, about your library account and more. You and your students can also ask questions via e-mail, phone, and in-person, of course!
Books Reading BOOKS & READING
Are you looking for a great book to read aloud to your class? Or perhaps a volunteer is looking for a one-session picture book to read aloud. Our librarians have compiled fantastic suggestions. Each book links to the catalog so you can easily request it.

Support your students dealing with the difficult issue of bullying with the books on our Helping Kids Cope: Bullying book list. These books can start conversations, encourage empathy, and let kids know they are not alone.
Did you know that students can receive free tutoring at 11 Hennepin County libraries? Homework Help provides one-on-one tutoring to K-12 students. And even if students can’t attend Homework Hub, KidLinks still has them covered. Homework Rescue provides free online tutoring from 1:00pm to 11:00pm as well as many other homework resources. Students need a library card to use Homework Rescue or access library databases from computers outside library buildings. Students can apply online. No parent signature is needed.

October is Teen Read Month! All month long teens can get a free replacement library card, attend special Teen Read Month events, write fan fiction to win prizes, and erase overdue fines. For more information, go to the Teen Read Month page or your local library.

What happened to Harry Potter in the 19 years between the Battle of Hogwarts and saying goodbye to his kids at Platform 9 3/4? What was life like for Katniss when she was 10? What happens to your favorite characters "outside" of your favorite stories? For Teen Read Month, share your 300-1500 word fanfiction stories about a favorite character. All teen submitters will be eligible for a random prize drawing. For complete contest details, go to the Teen Read Month page.
