“The American Library Association affirms that all libraries are forums for information and ideas...Libraries which make...meeting rooms available to the public they serve should make such facilities available on an equitable basis regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of individuals or groups requesting their use.” From American Library Association, LIBRARY BILL OF RIGHTS.
Hennepin County Library makes the Library’s meeting room space available on as widespread and equitable a basis as possible in order to manage a limited resource. The Library reserves the right to revoke permission to use a meeting room by other entities, if the room is needed for library purposes. The Library does not charge a fee for non-profit and tax supported groups. For-profit groups are charged a use fee.
Meetings which may interfere with the regular use of a library because of excessive noise or activity are not permitted. Meeting rooms are usually not available for commercial purposes. The Library Director establishes and publishes specific regulations based on this adopted policy. In the case of any disputes over use of meeting rooms, the Library Board will be the final authority in granting or refusing permission for use of Library facilities.
