At the community meeting on June 14 at the Sibley Park Recreation Center, information was presented about the Roosevelt Library renovation project including:
* Project budget of $3.2 million with funding provided by the City of Minneapolis per the 2000 Library referendum.
* The renovation will include basic accessibility and ADA building code requirements, restrooms on the main floor, new furniture throughout and exterior maintenance work such as masonry tuck-pointing and roof replacement. The renovation will also provide the opportunity to reconfigure existing space to better accommodate library patrons.
* Preliminary design concepts were discussed by attendees and are depicted in the document below, Roosevelt Library Community Presentation 6.14.2011. The project budget does allow for the addition of a meeting room.
* Meeting attendees were asked to provide feedback on community discussion questions including how they currently use the library and what they would like to see in the renovated Roosevelt Library.
The next community meeting will be held at the Sibley Park Recreation Center on July 20, from 6:30-8:00 pm. This meeting will include a summary of responses to the community discussion questions and also more detailed concept designs.
The meeting is open to all and there is no need to RSVP. Questions can be directed to Kelli Koob at firstname.lastname@example.org.
