Automated book returns:  Automated book returns are located inside Library Commons, and they can check in your materials immediately. The automated book returns in Library Commons are accessible while Library Commons is open.

A traditional metal drawer book drop is available in the Hennepin Avenue vestibule if your materials are not read by the automated return. 

After hours bookdrops are also available: 

• Walk up: A bookdrop on the Nicollet Mall Plaza is available all hours that the library is closed. 
• Drive through: A drive-through book drop is available in the parking garage, on the P-1 parking level. When you enter the garage, take a ticket, loop around the P1 parking level, and you will see a steel book return box before the exit. Return your books and continue to the exit gate to deposit your ticket to exit. This is free of charge as long as you exit the garage wihtin 15 minutes of entering.  The parking ramp is open from 5am-10pm, 7 days a week. 

Using the Automated Return Kiosks at Minneapolis Central

Find the barcode on your item, then place it face down on the kiosk.

Wait for the green light before sliding your item through.

Pick up your receipt when your item has gone through.

VHS tapes, oversize materials, and any other items that will not go through the automated kiosks can be returned in the metal drawer book drop.
