Of the more than 13 million books and media that you and your neighbors borrowed from the suburban Hennepin county Libraries last year, more than half a million were audiobooks (550,000) and large print (115,000) books. Demand for these tremendously popular formats continues to increase each month, outstripping the ability of our operating 'core collection' budget to meet demand.

In 2006, the Library Foundation and Friends of Hennepin County Library groups joined together to raise nearly $49,000 to keep the audio books and large print books collections current . This collection circulates throughout the 26 Hennepin County libraries and also provides support for lifelong learning initiatives. Contributions from donors, Friends and library customers bought more than 1000 new audio books and large print books to the library collection!

Your generosity is needed again this year. Contributions from individual donors and business are essential to help raise $60,000 in 2007 to purchase additional audio books and large print books. Support from book lovers and library enthusiasts like yourself will enable Hennepin County Library to better meet customer demand and serve our community.

Your gifts are tax deductible.
