COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS SEEK NEW IDEAS FOR SUPPORT OF LOCAL LIBRARIES
Wanted: people who care about the future and want to improve their community today by creatively supporting their library. Your attendance is cordially requested at "Community Support Conversations" scheduled at seven Hennepin County libraries in June. The conversations are an opportunity for you to hear about library support opportunities and to share your thoughts on how individuals in the community can support the library. New ideas are welcomed!
A
Hennepin County commissioner, Library Director Lois Langer Thompson, a
Library Board member,
Friends of the Library coordinator Margie Schuster, and a local supporter will lead the discussion. You'll hear about recent HCL successes as well as priorities for 2009, and the mission and projects of current Friends groups and options for new Friends directions.
Hennepin County Library currently has 26 Friends of the Library groups. They raise funds for their local library, assist with programs and events, and sponsor special programs. "Friends are the extra hands and energy that connect the community to the library," Schuster said.
The goal of the conversations: to develop a "new millennium" community support model that best promotes community building and library support.
"Community Support Conversations" are scheduled 7-8 p.m. You may attend any of these conversations, regardless of where your "home" library is. No need to RSVP in advance:
