LIBRARIES’ CHILDREN’S DAY/BOOK DAY PROGRAMS CELEBRATE FAMILIES AND LITERACY
Children and families of all cultures are invited to celebrate books, reading, and the importance of literacy at free Children's Day/Book Day programs at Hennepin County libraries in April and May.

Festivities include puppet shows, puppet displays made by students under the direction of bilingual artist Anne Sawyer-Aitch, a puppet-making workshop, music, poetry, games, and Latin American folk music by Ecuador-native Leo and Kathy Lara performing on unusual traditional musical instruments.

Since 1997, Children’s Day/Book Day fiestas have been scheduled around the world to celebrate the power of words, books and reading in the lives of children and families everywhere.

The programs are funded by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.  For more information, call the libraries.
