			<title>Dragon Sculpture Installed at Maple Grove Library</title>

			<description><![CDATA[The suspended art piece, a flying dragon, designed by local artists Shawn Trentlage and Darcy Ferrill has been installed at the Maple Grove Library in the childrens area.&nbsp;&nbsp;This&nbsp;art was funded through the One Percent for Art initiative in which capital building projects of $1 million or more have 1% of the capital project dedicated to the selection, purchase, and installation of works of public art,]]></description>

			<title>Artists Selected to Produce Art for Maple Grove Library</title>

			<description><![CDATA[On September 1, the art selection committee for Maple Grove Library artists to develop public art for two locations.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://mnartists.org/artistHome.do?rid=251938">Janet Lofquist</a>&nbsp; was selected to produce a monumental sculpture for the library exterior.&nbsp; Janet&#39;s other&nbsp;public art at Hennepin County Library is&nbsp;<em>Pages </em>which was created&nbsp;for the East Lake Library in 2007.&nbsp; <em>Pages</em> consists of&nbsp;etched glass on two sides of the library&#39;s exterior.<br />
<br />
The team of <a href="http://www.trellage-ferrill.com/home-page.html">Darcy Ferrill and Shawn Trentlage </a>were selected&nbsp;to create&nbsp;a suspended piece in the children&rsquo;s area.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
It is anticipated the works will be installed in 2011 and a library event will be held at that time.<br />

			<title>Artists Selected for Plymouth One Percent for Art Initiative</title>

			<description><![CDATA[On June 3rd, the Plymouth Library Public Art Selection Committee interviewed six finalists to develop art for two&nbsp;locations at the new Plymouth Library.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
At that meeting, <a href="http://www.phildaniel.com/">Phil Daniel Architectural Stained Glass </a>was selected to develop glass art that will reside in the three windows on the west side of the building.&nbsp; Staff and customers maybe familiar with glass art Phil Daniel&nbsp;has created&nbsp;for&nbsp;the Linden Hills and&nbsp;Wayzata&nbsp;libraries in Hennepin County.<br />
<br />
Additionally, St. Louis Park artist, <a href="http://www.joansolomon.com/">Joan Solomon </a>was selected to&nbsp;develop an&nbsp;art installation for the opposite east overhead wall.&nbsp; Joan&#39;s approach will include a series of textile panels.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Currently, Hennepin County Property Services is developing contracts for the artists. The artists are working independently and together to finalize&nbsp;design concepts prior to beginning fabrication.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Art installation is anticipated in the first half of 2011.<br />

			<title>Maple Grove Public Art Selection Committee: Meeting 1</title>

	<font size="2">The first meeting of the Maple Grove public art selection committee was held&nbsp;Tuesday, April 13 at 6 pm at the Maple Grove Library</font></p>
<p>
	<font size="2">Two art&nbsp;locations were identified:</font></p>

</dir>
<p>
	<font size="2">* One large suspended piece in the children&#39;s area<br />
	</font><font size="2">* Outdoor sculpture in the circular drive area&nbsp;</font></p>
<p>
	<font size="2">The Request for Qualifications&nbsp;will be finalized&nbsp;and posted in&nbsp;early May and run through&nbsp;early June.&nbsp;&nbsp;Artists will&nbsp;then have&nbsp;an opportunity to see the building during grand opening&nbsp;on May 22 or after.</font></p>
<p>
	<font size="2">The next&nbsp;meeting&nbsp;will be on June 15, 2010, 5-8 pm at the new Maple Grove Library, 8001 Main Street N.</font></p>
