Excellent idea of 1% for public art. Maple Grove has the potential for becoming a destination for tour groups visiting art (some public) throughout our community. Sioux Falls has had this program for years and it has enhanced its economic development a lot! Many other communities are using the "draw" of "the arts," and include theatre, sculpture, museums to attract tourists. Our public library system is to be praised for its leadership.
in this tough economic times, it is not wise to spend money on art for libraries, the money could be better saved or spent on better needs, such as books, etc.
