On September 1, the art selection committee for Maple Grove Library artists to develop public art for two locations.
Janet Lofquist was selected to produce a monumental sculpture for the library exterior. Janet's other public art at Hennepin County Library is Pages which was created for the East Lake Library in 2007. Pages consists of etched glass on two sides of the library's exterior.
The team of Darcy Ferrill and Shawn Trentlage were selected to create a suspended piece in the children’s area.
It is anticipated the works will be installed in 2011 and a library event will be held at that time.
Comments:
in this tight economy, should this money be spent for art? There are better uses for taxpayers money.
i have no problem with the one percent going to the arts, but that dragon looks kind of cheap and poorly designed.
