CULTURAL LITERACY INITIATIVES

Emerging Voices.....This author-lecture series features presentations by emerging authors of diverse backgrounds at several Hennepin County Libraries throughout the year. The series attracts a diverse, enthusiastic group of attendees. The 2002 -2003 series featured Frank Wu , Ruben Navarrette, Jr., and Nasdijj.

One World: Celebrating Our Community Traditions.....One World is a multicultural performing arts festival celebrating the cultural richness of our community. Participants experience authentic presentations of music, dance, storytelling and performing arts from around the world. The programs are free and open to all. Children, K-6, are especially encouraged to attend with their parents.

Latino Technology Training.....Latino Technology Training specifically for Latino adults provides "hands-on" experience to individuals who have had little opportunity for education. The classes have continued to grow to meet the demands of this learning opportunity.

Black History Month.....In 2003, an evening with Juan Williams was sponsored by the Foundation to help the community celebrate Black History Month and to emphasize the rich literary traditions of the African American community.
