Ojibwe Peoples Dictionary
This phenomenal online dictionary was years in the making and a product of collaboration between the University of Minnesota Department of American Indian Studies and the Minnesota Historical Society. The website draws on the resources and expertise of each organization. The project is deeply indebted to Ojibwe elders who were recorded for the talking dictionary. Their time and talents are a critical component of the dictionary.
Recent technologies made possible the illustrated, talking dictionary with photographs and drawings of Ojibwe material culture and activities. The dictionary searches related words and includes expanded language information. The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment monies were instrumental in bringing this site up on the web.

Words of 2011
Several organizations pick a word or words of the year. Merriam-Webster makes a top-10 list determined by the volume of user look-ups on its website; 2011's number one word was pragmatic. Members of the American Dialect Society take a vote for the word of the year, and the 2011 winner is occupy. Visual Thesaurus does an annual overview of words that defined the year; 2011's list includes occupy, Arab spring, tiger mom, and FOMO.
