Invention Expo 2014
For the first time, the Minnesota Inventors Congress will hold its Invention Expo in the Twin Cities. Anyone interested in inventing or seeing new products should attend this event at the Minneapolis Convention Center, May 2-3.
New Director for the USPTO
In January 2014 Michelle K. Lee became the Deputy Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, headquartered in Alexandria, VA.
Patent fees reduced
Independent inventors, who meet certain criteria, are now eligible for a 75% discount on regular patent filing fees at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Minnesota is an Inventive State

USPTO Moves to a First-to-File system
On March 16, 2013 the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office will implement a first-inventor-to-file system. The U.S. is the last industrialized country still using the first-to-invent system.
